"I hope this doesn't get so we take it (conference title) for granted, but I want it to be old hat. It's a great accomplishment. Billy, C.B., and Raef are four out of four. It's really been a great run, and those kids in the locker room feel good about themselves right now. Yet the nature of the game is, you can't feel good too long because we turn around and play (Oklahoma) in about 48 hours and go after it again.

"I thought their game plan was to come out and control tempo. We talked about that in practice. They tried to do it somewhat up at Ames (83-62 KU victory), and we got a little working margin early in the game up there and were able to keep it.

"(Today) we were doing a great job defensively, but we were so bad on the offensive end during the first half, not getting the shots we wanted. And when we did get the shots we wanted, we weren't making them. We would come down and shoot the ball in about five or six seconds, and then have to go back and play defense or 30 seconds, then go down and shoot it in five or six seconds and have to go back and play defense for 30 again. And it was very hard. But at the half we just talked about sticking with it and do the things we're supposed to do, and we'd be there at the end.

"Regardless of how much you talk about it, how much you work on it in practice, they've got to do in the games what we talked about. And we talked about being aware of Fizer, and everybody being able to get off and help on his drives. The first play of the game he drives the middle and Raef doesn't help. A couple of plays later he drives down the lane and Billy doesn't help. And those are two seniors. It happened again a little bit later, but we became more aware of him and where he was going and what he was trying to do. The first half he was the only guy on their team with more than one field goal. Then in the second half we were much more aware of where he was, but some of his shots just didn't go in.

"If Raef had boxed out a little better, he would have had even more (rebounds). It wasn't a great performance by Raef, but it was a workmanlike effort on the backboards. In the second half, basically what it boiled down to was, we cut down on their rebounds. At the half I think we only had one more rebound than they did, but we ended up outrebounding them 41-24, so that's a heck of a margin, considering the margin was only one at half.

"Then the other thing, T.J. gave us some good baskets inside because they were all towards Paul a lot. Paul found T.J., and T.J. made some hoops. And Paul had zero field goals in the first half, and ended up getting six field goals in the second half, plus the free throws, so he was big for us offensively.

"T.J. had a big second half. But again, they were putting so much of their emphasis on Raef and Paul, and they can't do that and ignore the rest of our people. We do have five guys who can score.

"I want to enjoy the heck out of it right now and have the kids feel good about what they're amccomplishing. If I'm not mistaken, since 1990 Missouri has won it once and Oklahoma State shared it with us once. Other than that, no one has any moments like those kids have."
