"It wasn't a lot of fun in the first half, but I was really pleased with their play in the second half. The first half they (FSU) were more aggressive than we were, they were quicker to the ball, got the offensive rebounds. They had 12 points off of our turnovers, and we had zero points off of their turnovers. You can't normally win a game like that if you don't get some easy ones. The second half we got a couple of turnovers, got a few more easy ones, did a better job on the backboards, and made some more shots. And I think getting involved in it mentally was probably more important than anything.

At halftime Paul was one-for-eight and Raef was oh-for-three, so I told our team we were lucky to only be down eight points. I didn't tell them it was because of that, but I told them we were lucky to only be down eight because of how poorly as we had played. But Paul was unbelievable on the backboards. 17 rebounds for him, and that's big time basketball.

"We had to change lineups because of some foul trouble tonight. We played Paul at the four spot some, and played Nick and Kenny and Billy all at the same time, and that helped us a little bit. But really we were just much more aggressive in the second half.

"We got it inside, but we couldn't score when we got it in there. We need to do a better job of getting the ball inside, and Raef and T.J. and Eric have got to do a better job of getting shaped up in the right spot. We were allowing them to push us off the blocks, pushing us off the areas that we wanted to get. And we've got to be strong going up against a shot-blocking, quick team. We've got to be stronger with it than we were.

"Everybody was good in the second half. Nobody was good in the first half. Paul's work on the backboards was the only thing, other than luck, that kept us in the game in the first half.

"I've said (Steve Robinson, FSU coach and former KU assistant) is the kind of person we should have in college athletics. He's like a brother to me and always will be. There was nothing I could say to him after the game, and he knew that. I knew that immediately after the game is the bad part of playing against somebody you enjoy as I do Steve because if we win, I'm going to feel badly for him, and if they win, I'm going to feel badly for me and my team. But he's a special person, and Florida State's awfully lucky to have him."
