For the record
KANSAS CITY, MO, 2017-11-15 Wednesday - KMCI-TV, 38 The Spot, announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with Spectrum Sports Kansas City to simulcast eight (4 MBB, 4 WBB - HE) University of Kansas basketball games this season beginning with the men’s game against South Dakota State on Friday, November 17 at 7:00 pm. link
Finally, relief for those of us in the region that are blacked out of Jayhawk TV carried games locally because we don't subscribe to Time-Warner/Spectrum TV or Comcast (Topeka) or Midco (new owner of Lawrence cable TV) and are too close to KC to be able to view the games on WatchESPN/ESPN3. This means we now will be able to see every regular season game at home this year (a big thing for fans who are retirees like me or any others living on a tight budget)
Thank you, KCMI-TV 38 for recognizing a market niche and moving to meet the need!
And please, PLEASE do the same for upcoming seasons!
Thanks again, and Seasons Greetings to All!
ROCK CHALK!

Just surprised it took so long for another local station to work out such a deal.

Tonight @7PM CT versus the 0-4 Texas Southern Tigers, coached by one time Indiana coach Mike Davis.
FRIDAY (yes, Jayhawk fans, two games in one week!) is against the 2-2 Oakland Golden Grizzlies (who are in Auburn Hills, MI, by the way).
Both games in AFH, broadcast on Jayhawk Network TV on Spectrum (new name for TWC) and simulcast in the KC metro region on KCMI TV 38 (thank you again, KCMI TV!)
P.S. -- a hearty THANK YOU! and ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! to jaythawk1 and son for the HAWK SIGNAL!

More on tonight’s foe Texas Southern. Their record to date is a little deceptive ...

The last of the 3 campus games takes place on Tuesday November 28 as KU hosts Toledo.
After that KU goes to American Airlines Arena in Miami to face Syracuse on Dec 2 for each team's final game in the Invitational.
FYI, as part of the Invitational Syracuse has also hosted Texas Southern (W 80-67), Oakland (W 74-50) and Toledo (W 72-64).
This game will also mark the last of the Jayhawk TV network games for this season. After December 2 every game is either on ESPN/2, CBS or FS1 (the Dec 16 game against Nebraska which will see the AY2017-18 debut of midyear transfer SG Sam Cunliffe).
Would love to see KU hit the century mark for a 3rd straight game and then head down to Miami to squeeze out some Orange juice!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is enjoying a wonderful holiday weekend!

This ESPN televised game (4:30 pm CT) will be the last game in the Naismith Hoophall Miami Invitational for both teams.
Princeton and Miami will play the final game in the Invitational after KU v SU is over.
Our Jayhawks best slap on the Coppertone to play in the bright lights against Boeheim's 6-0 perennial powerhouse and his famed Syracuse zone defense.
But our Jayhawks can do it!

Playing another Syracuse style zone (Washington's coach is a former Boeheim assistant), but from a team without quite the same length as the Orange. link
This will be the boys only regular season game in the Sprint Center for this year.
Best of luck, guys, turn on that Power & Light!

Opening the run @8:00 PM CT tonight (ESPN2) for an unprecedented 14th straight NCAA Division 1 men's basketball conference title, on the road, deep in the heart of Texas at the Frank Erwin Center.
Bill Self thinks 13-5 will win the conference title outright this year.
Both asteroid (KU, WVU, TT, OU) and CorpusJayhawk (OU, TT, KU, WVU) have provided their pre-conference projections for this season, and it looks to be one of the toughest conference runs since the streak began way back with the 2004-05 season..
Here's Matt Tait on KU @tu.
Latest guesstimates I have read being bandied about are to expect KU to play shorthanded (1) tonight against Texas and (2) on Tuesday Jan 2 against Tech in the Jayhawks conference home opener before being joined by De Sousa and Preston for the Dec 6 road game @TCU. NCAA offices are currently closed for the holidays, but will be open again - IIRC - starting Jan 2, 2018 (if I'm wrong, then it's Jan 3).
Even shorthanded, KU is favored to squeak out a road win to add to asteroid's "Road Wins" table and a big "1" in the "Home Loss" table.for the SS Shorthorns.
Make it so, Jayhawks!

Our conference home opener comes against Texas Tech tonight, and Tech -- which has never won in AFH (KU presently 17-0 against them in The Phog).-- is a much different animal this year than in year's past. Tech comes in as the top defensive team in the conference, and in some projections (such as CorpusJayhawk's ) is currently the biggest roadblock in KU's path to #14Straight. asteroid's updated current projections has Tech 3rd behind KU and WVU.
Here's Matt Tait on TTech @KU.
Barring last minute news from the newly reopened post-holiday NCAA, expect KU to play without Silvio De Sousa and Billy Preston for one more game against Tech tonight. Hopefully they will both be on board for the Dec 6 road game @TCU, which promises to be another tough venue, as we saw in OU's win there this past weekend.
Even shorthanded, KU is favored by most (except Corpus' model) to win in AFH tonight. And this season, with the competition the toughest we have seen in years, defending the home court is a must for every team looking to make a serious run for the Big 12 title.
Make it so, Jayhawks!

JAYHAWK BALL NIGHT!
8 PM CT in Morgantown
Probability wise, I think we are all concerned that we will see what we've seen the last four years in Morgantown.
Heartwise, we know our guys have been solid on the road so far this year.
If they give it their best tonight they can enjoy the trip home for the first time since Spring 2013.
Let's GO, JAYHAWKS!
ROCK CHALK! JAYHAWK! KU!

JAYHAWK BALL NIGHT!
6 PM CT in Norman on ESPN
As always, the home court advantage looms large for the home team.
But this year, seemingly more than most, our Jayhawks have been even better on the road than they have at home in the Phog. Heresy, I know, but so far this season it has proved to be the case.
As noted by others on the RCB, tonight presents our Jayhawks with the golden opportunity to go 2 up on WVU and KSU, and to drop OU out of that group and back to the middle of the pack at 3 games back (4-4) with TX. Even though there will still be 10 games remaining in the conference schedule for everyone after tonight, and even though a KU win would not represent a certainty that #14 will be KU's, anybody -- fan or foe -- would have to like (or dislike, as the case may be) the title chances for the Jayhawks with a win tonight in Norman! So, come on Road Warriors!
Let's GO, JAYHAWKS!
ROCK CHALK! JAYHAWK! KU!

JAYHAWK BALL NIGHT!
Talk about your big games.
A win in Manhattan keeps KU all alone atop the Big 12 at least until next Saturday.
A loss and we could potentially see a 5 way tie for first in the conference between
KU
KSU
OU (hosts BU Tuesday)
TT (hosts TX Wednesday)
WVU (visits ISU Wednesday)
by COB Wednesday.
As always, the home court advantage looms large for the home team.
But to repeat my earlier point -- this year our Jayhawks have been even better on the road than they have at home in the Phog.
Come on Road Warriors!
Let's GO, JAYHAWKS!
ROCK CHALK! JAYHAWK! KU!
