"For such a long time we were trading baskets with them, and you can't trade baskets and ever pick up a lead. We needed to get some stops at the defensive end. We got some stops and we were able to cash in on the offensive end a little bit. It wasn't a very smooth game for us. We turned it over more on the break than I can ever remember us doing. We have a simple drill we do at practice called Pitch Ahead Layup, which means pitch it ahead over other people's heads to our guys, and we threw it away three times tonight. So it wasn't very sharp on the offensive end, but you've got to win a lot of games like that, and defensively in stretches in the second half we were pretty good.

"Kenny Gregory was really something on the offensive boards. One time he got three shots from about six inches away. He missed all three of them, but I thought Kenny was important to us on the boards. Drew and Nick Collison came in and gave us some good minutes. Eric struggled a little bit more tonight than he has. He's had two great games against these guys the last two years. (25 pts and 17 rebs, 16 and 20)

"We've tried over the last two or three weeks, since we got into conference play, to take the other team's best scorer and try to cut his field goal percentage down. And we've been somewhat successful in doing that. We hadn't done it earlier in the year. But over the last two or three weeks we've paid more attention to the guy. It's a hard game, and if all five guys are doing it together on defense, it makes it a lot easier.

(A&M sets attendance record with 12,175) "I hope it's always like that. That means we've been beating a lot of people and they're coming in trying to see if they can get a chance to upset us. And it also means that there's a lot of KU people in this area who will come and watch us on the road. Those are good stats to have. We've done that several times lately."
