Roy Williams - "You have to congratulate Ricardo (Patton) and their staff. I knew we'd get a great shot from them today. I knew we'd catch 'em very excited, very enthused. They worked extremely hard. Their defense beat our offense. They were more aggressive. Really, you have to hand it to them. I thought they did an outstanding job, and yet I was really pleased with the way our club battled and played down the stretch. We made some big-time plays the last five or six minutes of the game: Scot's free throws, Scot's rebounding, Jerod's three-pointer from the top of the key. There were a lot of guys who made big plays down at the end.

"Sean gave us a lift, and I thought Jerod and Paul weren't playing at all in the first half, and really didn't have very good games to be honest with you. But Kansas picks up for each other, and that's what happened.

"It's a great win for this club. You look down there and Scot and Paul and Raef, Jacque, and Jerod, those are the five guys who run out there to start, but those other guys made some big plays."

CU interim coach Ricardo Patton - "They (CU) saw the benefits of working hard. If we continue to work that way, we'll have a chance, and in this world that's all you can ask.

"I looked at the stat sheet, and we had 25 turnovers, but Kansas had 26. And we outrebounded Kansas by one. I got no complaint.

"Joe Harrington (former coach, who recently resigned) did some good things. There was nothing wrong with our offense or defense. Something was wrong with our effort, and that's where we improved tonight."
