Roy Williams - "Give St. Peter's credit for battling the entire game. We're up 19 at the half, and they stayed in it the entire second half. And I think for the most part, probably they came closer to pleasing their coach than our team did me. But give them some credit. I think everybody thought it was going to be easy, but I didn't. I felt comfortable with what I was saying about their team. It got to be an ugly game out there for a while tonight. We didn't execute, and we didn't do the things we needed to do, but give them some credit for causing that. I'm not pleased with the way we played, but too often I think we just talk about the way we played and don't give the other team credit.

"What I'd like to do is look back on this first fourteen games and feel good about what we've done here before we start conference play. I'm going to have enough trouble handling this game and reacting to it without talking too much about it tonight.

"13 and one at this time is something. You go back to December 20th, and particularly the California kids, we go to New York; we play; they fly all the way back across the country to California; they fly back to New york; we go to Paris; we get back and play within 48 hours; play five games in a 10-day period, the last two of those on the road.... It's been a heck of a grind, but I don't think they're tired, because we tried to give 'em some time to get fresh these last three or four days, and maybe that caused what we're doing. We're giving them tomorrow off, first day of classes, and let them get situated and know where they're supposed to be. Then Wednesday and Thursday we've got to go back and have great practices.

"Jacque supposedly cursed the official, and I know he yelled at him because I heard that. It was very uncharacteristic, but it's not something I'm going to go overboard on it. I let him sit out the rest of the half. And if I'm not mistaken, that's only the second technical a player at Kansas has had since I've been here, and the other one was Rex grabbing a guy's shirt. But it's a very difficult game to officiate, and evidently there was something there he didn't like, but we make a lot of mistakes just like the officials do.

"I thought Ryan and Calvin both did some good things at the offensive end of the floor. Ryan stepped up and hit some free throws. I was getting sick, to be honest with you, about the way we were shooting the ball on the free throw line. We've gotta shoot 'em better than that. This team has shot more free trhows (in practice) than any team I've ever coached, and maybe all of 'em put together. So I don't want anybody out there sending me daggum letters giving me any cures. I'll coach, and everybody else can enjoy it or shut up, but don't send me any letters.

"Billy was the game in the first half. I really thought that he really gave us a little bit of a working margin. Then TJ and BJ, their group was really good defensively and we got a couple of baskets on the break after they did a good job. I think TJ, BJ, and Billy really did some good things for us off the bench. Jerod was sensational defensively with his steals, and Scot was really something with his blocked shots.

"I'm ready for practice on Wednesday. The bad thing is I've got to wait about, oh, 41 hours before I can get to do that."

Jacque Vaughn - "I just said he fouled me. I don't know what he thought I said. Maybe I spoke a little louder than I should have been. I don't have reason to be embarrassed. I'm an expressive player. I express my emotions out there. I'll be a player the next time I step out there. There's no reason to be embarrassed. I'm just happy some guys stepped up."

SPC coach Rodger Blind - "Let me ask you a question. 34 fouls to 14: does something seem wrong with that? That's all I'm going to say about the officiating, because I'll get in trouble.

"No matter what the officials call, you can't get three technicals. Again, two of the technicals were in the first half, and you can't come to Kansas and be down by 19 points at halftime. If nothing else, you go into the locker room down by 10 instead of 19, which is not as big an uphill climb.

"We knew coming in that (Thomas) shot 56 three, and he definitely hurt us. Those hurt us, and you can't let good shooters get good looks.

"We were up in the first half and had a stretch where we became undisciplined for 13 minutes. The defensive intensity dropped off. I thought our kids played well in the second half. But I told the kids that basketball is a game of 40 minutes."
