"That was unbelievable. It was ugly, then it was pretty, then it was ugly again, then pretty, but what an atmosphere. It was a hotbox in there and guys were just competing their tails off on both teams. A couple of possessions are the type you show teams just to let them know how hard you ’ve got to play. I’m so proud of our guys because I’ve been on them about being tougher and harder and you don’t always have to play well to win if you’re tough, and I think these guys showed a lot of courage today.

"At the end of the game, I could have called time out. They denied it to (Keith Langford), and it was kind of a broken floor, and maybe I should have called it with about nine seconds left, and I said, ‘Let’s go play.’ Get the ball to Keith, and then we didn’t get out of his way. We got out of his way the second time, and he went and made a play. He was not passing that ball. He was going to take it, and he made a great shot.

"I don’t know if I’ve ever been around many games like this. We’re playing without an All-American and we’ve got nothing going right and we’re down 16 in the second half against the national runners-up last year. These guys just kept battling and battling, and we played a lot of young guys a lot of minutes today. They need that kind of experience and exposure.

"(The steal by Langford and basket by Giddens) was the play of the game besides making the last one. Of course, we wouldn’t have had to make the last one if we had made our free throws. But it’s hard to get on a kid like Alex who, just out of nowhere, all we ask him to do is play 26 minutes and guard somebody a lot bigger than him, and he goes and gets seven rebounds. And Alex made the biggest shot of the game other than Keith’s winner when we ’re down four and we’re dying with a minute and a half left, and he rains in a three.

"Our defense was really good. You take away Jarrett Jack, who was phenomenal.... We trapped ball screens just to keep him out of the lane and he still goes for 26. He’s as good as I’ve coached against since I’ve been here. We did a great job on everybody else, and a lot of guys stepped up and made some plays.

"How can you be overly confident when you put in new offenses three days ago, and you’re trying to figure out how to play with two big guys and then you’re trying to figure out how to play with one big guy, and then you’re playing a ton of young kids. So how can you be overly confident? Maybe Aaron, maybe Keith. JR’s kind of labored a little bit. So we’re not the most confident team, but to win like this will do wonders for us, and we’ll draw from this in the future as far as being down and just having to tough it out.

"(Keith) got hit in the face. I’m not going to comment on the officiating, but not very often you shoot ten free throws at home and your opponent shoots 23. That doesn’t happen very often. Keith made an unbelievable play, and sometimes you can miss them, but usually guys don’t have to be subbed for if it’s not a foul. It was just one of those things. We overcame a lot of things today to win.

"(Christian Moody) is an amazing kid. He made a 3.6 grade point average, he does just about everything right except he’s not aggressive enough when he needs to be on the court, but what a job he’s done. Without Wayne, it’s even harder for him to play because now he’s got to guard Schenscher, and he did a great job on him. We didn’t even have to trap him that much. We trapped him early, and then we just guarded him.

"And the last guy I want to talk about is Aaron. Aaron didn’t start out great today, but for him to have a chance to get 1,000 and break Jacque’s record, there was some pressure on him today, going against Jack after the way last year went and a lot of things. I’m really happy for him, too.

"Our crowd today was the best! And that was a hard game to get excited for when nothing’s going good. We make a three in the first half and they’re going nuts, and we’re down 12. It’s hard to get excited about that. But God, they were good. They worked their butts off and they’re leaving here sweaty like I am, but we need them on Wednesday, too."
