"It didn’t feel very good the first eight or nine minutes. We played better than the score indicated. We had some over-hustle plays where they got some loose balls and some easy baskets. And it was a tough matchup for Wayne guarding Champion, and he got off to a good start. But I thought after the first eight or nine minutes, we really locked them up. I thought our defense was great; by far the best it’s been over and extended period of time, even in practice. I thought the guys were pretty alert. And even when you run poor offense, which we did at times tonight, we still scored 90 points because we were able to get out and run off our defense.

"A lot of things we have to improve on. I didn’t like the fact that we tied them on the boards. A lot of that stuff came late, but I thought in the second half we probably lost a little focus and weren’t quite as sharp as we should have been. But I was pleased. We practiced bad yesterday, so I was really happy that we bounced back tonight and performed better.

"We forced 18 turnovers in the first half, and that got us a 12-point lead. Then we come out and we foul every other possession in the second half, so you don’t play quite as aggressively, and they only turn it over five times the second half.

"David got going, and I thought he was terrific the second half. Wayne was good, and Keith was offensively terrific, and did some good things defensively, too. Aaron had a good floor game and made some shots. Mike did some really good things and got us off to a good start, making a three early. We know we’ve got four guys who can score the ball, but we still need our fifth and sixth and seventh scorers to step up in order for us to have a chance to be balanced offensively.

"The fact we had nine blocks and 13 steals and a 22:16 assist:turnover ratio.... A lot of good things. But we’ve got to shoot the ball better from beyond the arc, and we’ve got to rebound the basketball better.

"We had the right guys getting fouled. We didn’t shoot a lot of free throws. Only 18, but I have a lot of confidence in Keith and Wayne and David and Mike at the line. Aaron’s a good free throw shooter. But 5-20 beyond the arc.... And I bet of the five we made, I bet we made three of the five in the first five or six minutes, so we’ve definitely got to be more consistent beyond the arc.

"I want to play nine guys in the game; four big and five perimeter. In a perfect world, because Bryant can go back and forth, we can go eight. But I think nine is a good number, and that also allows some of the young guys a chance to play. There’s going to be somebody who doesn’t play a lot a lot of nights. Just like J-hawk tonight. He played fine, but he only played ten minutes. He and Mike combined for 27 when some nights they’re going to combine for 40. I don’t like playing guys 34-33-31-35, but the way the game was going, those guys performed so well that we had to keep them out there."
