Roy Williams - "They threw a zone at us all night long, and we've come to expect that. But we didn't shoot the ball as well as I'd like for us to, and our shot selection wasn't as good as we wanted it. 22 threes, I don't like that.

"Scot has 200 blocked shots, and he's a guy who had to split time his first two years here. But he's a good defender, not just a shot blocker, but does a good job of posiiton. He graded out as our top defender in the Connecticut game and grades out well defensively all the time.

"I probably made a bad decision, asking them to announce Jacque's assist record (all time KU and Big 8 leader) 14 minutes before the game. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a better cheer for him at that point. People were sitting there eating popcorn and sitting on their tails too much for me at that point. But Howard Hill added a great touch when I took Jacque out, and said something about it again at the end, and the crowd did give him a little bit of an ovation then. The students were fantastic, but the other people didn't get up. Maybe once you get past the age of 22, you don't listen to the PA announcer before the game.

"Jerod and Raef were really good offensively, and Jerod was really good defensively, too. I thought Raef made the open shots and got to the boards for us. I like to look and see 10 rebounds for Scot and Raef both. I really like six rebounds for Paul, because he had zero at the half. It was another one of those times--I've done it to Raef and Scot before, and I did it tonight to Paul--at halftime he had one field goal and zero rebounds. So I told him he might as well play the second half, because he didn't the first half.

"The most impressive line to me is 34 free throw attempts. That's the reason I don't like as many three-point shots. I want to get the basketball inside and get fouled. It's an easy way to score; nobody's guarding you. And at the end of the game you've got a chance for the other people to not have their people who started the game still playing, because they're in foul trouble.

"We took too many threes. That's what they wanted us to take, and we fell into their trap a little bit there. We made some of them. Billy made two or three in a row, and that was nice. But I like our defense probably more than anything.

"I talked to the team about (Colorado) after the game. As much as I say it, we've got to play it one game at a time. But still, it's human nature to have a team coming in that had lost seven games in a row and think that one was going to be easy. So we had to guard against that. But I do think it'll be a heck of a basketball game. Colorado's done a great job. I think they have four road wins, and those are not easy to do in this league. They're really, really playing well."

TAMU coach Tony Barone - "They wear you down physically. They hit the glass on every play. They're not doing anything illegal. They just wear you down.

"On the board we wrote about not giving up stickbacks and wide open three-pointers. And that's what we did. Brain lock."
