Roy Williams - "We were really good in the first half, forced a few turnovers, got our break going and got some easy shots. But I think the turnovers in the first half and our work on the backboards was really the basketball game. Then in the second half it really was a game of mistakes. We made a bunch of them, but they made a bunch of them too. And because of both teams making mistakes like that, they really couldn't make an effective run.

"We had a lot of guns today. Billy came off the bench and gave us a big lift in the first half. Ryan did a heck of a job against Cameron Dollar, who is really a good defensive player. Raef was important to us inside. I think Raef was a little ticked off with the way he had played Wednesday night against Cincinnati. His foots's been bothering him a lot, but I thought he was really important today.

"Billy was really good for us. We needed some points. In fact late in the first half I sent Jerod up to the scorer's table and told him to get Billy. Then Billy hit one at that time, and I said, 'Jerod, instead go in for Nick.' So we had Jerod and Billy both in there at the same time, and Billy made two more baskets after that. It was one of the few good moves I made. Billy has been important to us all year. He hasn't shot it like we think he can, but today he made a bunch of them.

"I told Ryan that was a sensational game for him. What I liked even better, I think he took three charges during the game, too. And that was important because it stopped a little bit of Cameron Dollar's penetration.

"I was very ticked at the half because they scored the last seven points on four free throws and a three-pointer. 21 points at halftime, but it could have been 28 and really made it difficult for them.

"But it's been a very tumultuous time around here for UCLA recently. It's been very difficult for them. They're nice young men, very athletic, and they'll get it going. But it's just been a tough time for them so far this fall.

"It's been a lot of travel, some good basketball games, some games where we didn't play as well. But we're 7-0, and we feel good about that. We've only had one home game, and we'd like to get back home and play some of those games, too. We've got to feel good about what we're doing. But we've got to get a lot better, and I think we can get a lot better."

UCLA coach Steve Lavin - "Kansas, they're like a buzzaw. They definitely deserve their #1 ranking. They put on a clinic doing simple things. They're like we were two years ago when we won the national championship. We played with anxiety and no poise. Turnovers haunted us. We led the Pac 10 in turnovers last year, and we're on pace to do it again.

"Not having Henderson the first half (three fouls) hurt us. But more than that, Kansas took us out of our offense. I'm going to be like Gene Hackman in Hoosiers. I'm going to make them pass the ball five times before they shot.

"(The first half) reminded me of the Cal game in 1993 when Jason Kidd destroyed us here. Every guy was trying to be a cleanup hitter instead of getting base hits to get back in the ball game.

"Kansas is a better team without Jacque Vaughn. I'm not putting down Jacque. He's the best. But they are a better passing team because with Jacque they rely on his penetration. You can't press that team. They'd have torn our press apart."

Ryan Robertson - "Coach Williams handed me the keys: not to a clunker, but to a Ferrari. I haven't crashed it, and it's going 90 miles per hour."
