Roy Williams - "On the backboards we were really good, particularly Scot and Raef. It was a ragged game, but I liked the effort.

"We were 4 of 17 from the three-point line. We know we're better shooters than that. Jerod is 0-6. I'm pretty comfortable with how good he is. Sean didn't shoot it in, either. I took him out because I thought his arm was getting tired he shot it so much. My guess is he'll shoot it in the hole the next exhibition game.

"He (Pollard) really has been good. He really has. Tonight the ball bounced his way quited a bit, but he makes it bounce his way by making the effort to go after it. He's really been dominating some of our practices, is the bottom line. It's so strange, when Greg (Ostertag) was here, Greg dominated everybody. Maybe it's just Scot feeling his oats not having the other big guy in there all the time."

On Paul Pierce's elbow injury: "He thought the world was ending. He was in a little bit of pain. It scared him like any youngster. I'm just happy he sutck his head in there and didn't tiptoe through the tulips. He did make some nice moves to the basket (for three monster jams). He's gotta stop hanging on the rim. Tonight they could have called a 'T,' but he did some nice things."

Converse coach Mickey Walker - "I thought they had 40 guys on the team. They just kept coming and coming. Usually a team loses performance if they substitute that much, but they seemed to always know what they were doing.

"The Jayhawks were much more disciplined, and they got their shots. We just didn't run as well as Kansas. Physically they had just wore us down by the second half with their presses.

"Both point guards were impressive. They may not have the biggest numbers, but they allowed everyone else to be so effective. Pollard also surprised me. I didn't think he had so much mobility. I thought he was more of a lock-down player."
