"The only way this could be any better would be if it was a game to go to the Final Four or something like that. But this was beating one of our biggest rivals – of course, in the eyes of a lot of fans, it is THE rival, and K-State is, too – and to close the building down like this.... Everybody was juiced for this game. But it’s just Round Two, though. We’ve got another round to go if I’m not mistaken. Round Three will be in Dallas.

"We showed some character. We played hard, we made shots, and we went brain dead and stale in the last three minutes. Missouri made some great plays and we just screwed the game up. To be down one and then have Aaron make the shot, and then to have Keith penetrate, force help, pass the ball to David, and have confidence in him to make the shot.... Unbelievable win. Unbelievable.

"We had no answer (for Arthur Johnson). Maybe we should have contained him better if we went zone. But we still figured as well as they shoot it at home, we’d still be better off playing man. Not having Jeff (Graves) in the game certainly hurt us, but he (Johnson) was terrific. He got some baskets when we defended poorly, but he also got some baskets when he just made some great shots.

"We had some guys step up and make some plays. You know, Keith hadn’t practiced since the Nebraska game because of his knee. He’s got a bad, bad knee bruise. He’s terrific and gets us off to a great start with his perimeter shooting. And how great was Aaron? He made a couple of bad plays, but that was about it. It’s fitting. Aaron makes a three last year and he makes the one this year. Neither one was the game winning shot, but you couldn’t have won the game unless he makes the shot before. Wayne had 16 points the second half. He was great. JR had his moments when he was really good and made shots. Four-of-seven from three; some big shots. David was good. Jeff was good while he was in there. Christian Moody was good. Michael Lee was solid. But to have it come down to a freshman, and have him throw it in the way he did.... David has labored here lately, and what a confidence boost this will be for him.

"I hadn’t thought about (tying for second place in the conference with Texas). As big a struggles as we’ve had in so many people’s eyes this year, and what a down year it’s been in so many people’s eyes, to finish second in a great league while going through some transition things, it’s been a good season. Now we’ve got to go make it a great season, and you can’t have a great season unless you do good in the post-season."
