"It was a heck of a college basketball game if you like to see two teams that really competed very hard. I don't think either team was very effective offensively, especially us. They were more effective in the second half. We couldn't keep them off the free throw line, and I think that was a huge part of the game. Having Kirk foul out, Nick (Collison) foul out, those kinds of things hurt us. But you just have to congratulate them. We had what you'd like. The shot clock is winding down and a guy is shooting a fall-away from 18 feet, but it goes in.

"But before that is where I think the game was lost, or was won for them. We turned it over three straight times. Marlon dribbles in, and loses the dribble. We throw it in the post, and Eric doesn't throw it out quick enough, and they come in a steal his dribble. And then there was some kind of miscommunication on an exchange between Nick (Bradford) and Drew, and they went down and scored every time. We even got them to miss two free throws, but didn't get them boxed out, and Shirley comes in and gets the rebound, and we get another foul called. We didn't make plays again, the last two or three minutes of the game.

"A couple of times down the stretch it looked like we were sitting back waiting for Jeff to make a three. He made one and gave us a lift, and I thought we were going to be all right. But then we go down and two times in a row we don't stop them on the defensive end because we foul them and put them on the free throw line. It's frustrating. It's one I'm going to remember for a long, long time. I really, really wanted this team to have some success tonight. It's been a tough year in a lot of ways for this group. This one hurts, and nothing's gonna change that.

"But you've got to congratulate Iowa State. At Oklahoma, the only loss they have in the league, they had the last shot to win the game at the end of regulation, about an eight-footer, and missed it. And at the end of the first overtime, they had a two-shot foul, down one, make the first and miss the second. But congratulate them. We're going to keep trying and see what happens.

"They are good. Jamal's penetration is hard to guard, and Fizer is just so big and has the ability to go inside and out. It's hard to beat somebody when you put them on the free throw line 28 times, even though they didn't shoot their free throws very well. We've got to make some plays and stay out of foul trouble and do a better job.

"Nobody feels worse in the locker room than Jeff Boschee. He's probably never gone through a shooting night like that in his entire life."
