"I was so discouraged about the number of times we were fouling. We were trying to play defense by holding people and grabbing people instead of sliding our feet and playing defense with our feet. I have no complaints about the officiating. We've got to do a better job defensively, and get our hands off of people.

"I liked that when we went to the free throw line down the stretch, we made those, and that's a good sign. Georgia worked on us on the backboards, and the only thing we were doing was fouling and putting them on the free throw line.

"Kenny was really good. Nine for ten, that's pretty impressive. If you shoot the basketball like that, you gonna get good things to happen. Nick Collison made four big free throws. If you remember, his first free throw against Fairfield was an air ball, and he was just shocked, and I'm sure he was thinking about that, but he stepped up to the line and made those. And Nick also did a good job on the backboards.

"The key part of the game was when they came back and took a one-point lead, and then I think we scored on two or maybe three straight possessions right after that. Ashante gave us a lift off the bench, Luke gave us a lift off the bench, and I thought both of those were really important for us. (KU takes 70-58 lead)

"And then we got stupid. Eric took a stupid shot, Luke gets called for walking, Nick Bradford took a stupid shot... This is early in the year, but you can't do those things normally and be a good team.

"We went to a zone for two reasons. One, we weren't doing a good job of guarding, and I didn't like our foul situation. Also, we played man-to-man, and they seemed to be solving it, so we wanted to see if we could bother them a little bit by going to the zone.

"Xavier is a club that I've always liked. I like Skip Proeser, I think he does a fantastic job. They're well coached, they always will be, and they'll play extremely hard. It'll be a big challenge for us tomorrow night."
