"It was a heck of a college basketball game. We needed a game that we faced some adversity during the game and had the other team come back and take a lead on us like Cal did tonight. Then we competed pretty doggone hard after that and really did some nice things. We got the ball inside more. We attacked the basket more. And I think when you add all that together with what we were doing on the defensive end really made the game. At halftime we put Jerod on Edward Gray, not that Paul was doing a bad job. I just wanted a little more quickness on him, and Jerod did a fantastic job on him in the second half.

"Jerod's reverse layup was spectacular. But what I thought was 100 times more spectacular than that was when he turned the ball over right in front of our bench. He flat out turned the sucker over, and all of a sudden just dove in and got the basketball back for our team. And that was one of the greatest plays. That reminded me of Monte Cozzins football run where he ran through half the dadgum team at Memorial Stadium that day.

"In the first half we had 11 three-point attempts, and I told them that was too many. I don't think we took as many in the second half, but yet we got two big ones made by Billy and a big one made by Ryan, too.

"Virginia has played just exceptionally well. I think they have basically the same team they had two years ago, except for Junior Burroughs. They had everybody back last year and expected great things and had a tough year. But what they've done, they've come back this year very motivated and very poised, and they've been sensational. We've really got our work cut out for us tomorrow, but we're going to enjoy this one tonight."
