Roy Williams - "Our plays made me feel a heck of a lot better. I don't know how much better I feel. (He has a cold.)

You know, somebody asked if it was gonna worth it (starting all the seniors), because at K-State, at the start of their game with the seniors, it wasn't good (for KSU). At North Carolina at the start of their game with the seniors it wasn't good. I said our kids would play their tails off, and I thought they did. It gave us a big lift, and it was something I'm certain they'll remember for a long time.

"(The post play) was pretty physical out there, but our guys did what they needed to do, and it's been a greeat night for Kansas basketball.

"It was very aggressive out there, and it was two teams playing extremely hard.

"I think (the seniors) were a factor the whole game. The seniors certainly got us off to a great start tonight. They gave us a big lift. They started out scoring.

"It worked out to be a fantastic night. It was not easy for those seniors. T.J. is a walk-on. Calvin and Sean have also had some teammates ahead of them this year. It has been difficult, but they've handled it magnificently on the court and in the locker room.

"Jacque and Jerod were basically the whole story in the first half. We were sensational offensively the first half. The second half it got to be somewhat of an ugly game."

T.J. Whatley - "Wow. I'll tell you what, I can live a lot longer and a lot happier life knowing that my last home win was against Missouri. I can live to be a happy old man now.

"And thanks to all the fans. That 'We want Whatley' dhant will be ringing in my ears forever. It felt so great!"

MU coach Norm Stewart - "The difference in the ball game, real honestly, was defense. Theirs was real good, and ours hasn't been consistent all year.

"I felt sorry for (Ed Hightower). He really worked his butt off. Ed had to work.

"I don't think about (whether this loss kills MU's NCAA hopes). Write some other stories."
