Season summary

"We put in a new wrinkle. We tried to isolate the big guys inside.

"I said, 'I'm dadgum tired of watching the tape (KU's 64-68 loss in Lawrence this season) and hearing the announcers say how much quicker to the ball they are.' We couldn't let them want it more for the fourth consecutive half.

(On KU's 13-point lead shrinking to just six with 3:00 left) "It was like we went brain dead three or four possessions in a row. We did some of the dumbest things ever. We called a timeout. After that, we took some time off the clock, and Jacque stepped up and hit a big shot.

(On KU's 11 straight wins in Manhattan) "I told the kids, 'It's the wildest thing in the world, but it's going to end sometime.' I just keep asking them to put it off for another year.

"I told Jacque he was 1-0. Patrick and Steve and Richard are 4-0. They appreciate that. They like that.

"I don't like to lose to somebody. I don't like to lose twice in a row. I didn't want three in a row."
