Season summary

"They don't come easy in the Big 8, regardless of where you play, at home or on the road.

"I feel for Iowa State. Without Loren Meyer, that makes a big difference in their club. At the same time, I thought they were really enthused today. I thought they were really ready to play. We got them down ten a couple of times in the first half, and those kids wouldn't give in. You have to give them creidit for continuing to fight.

"Michalik was tough for us in the second half. Hoiberg I think is just fantastic. But got some big plays from a lot of guys. Steve Woodberry was sensational. Jacque made a couple of big drives at the end and found some guys at the basket. Richard Scott came in and it seemed got every defensive rebound. Plus when we were struggling I put Richard back in, and he gets two straight inside baskets. Greg Ostertag gave us some better moments today. It was really a team victory.

"Steve doesn't mind the feeling of wanting to make that big shot. Other guys look for him and he likes that role. He didn't have a good game by his standards Monday night (64-68 loss to KSU) on the offensive end, but he was still sensational at the defensive end. And I'll bet if you ask Fred Hoiberg, he'll tell you Steve's one of the best defensive players he has to go up against."
