"Vermont's good. Of course, we knew that before the game started. These guys are really good. They played great and we didn't play very smart at times. It hurt us when Christian got two quick fouls. We played too fast offensively. We were so impatient. You say 'run,' and then you shoot it on the first side every time in the first half. Out of 41 possessions in the first half, we got it to the third side twice. Just too impatient, too anxious and nervous and everything else.

"The second half we actually executed a lot better. Got Wayne involved in the offense more. But it was a big win. Those are the games you've got to win. You've got to figure out some way to win. I'll take that from this game more than anything else, although there are some obvious areas in need of improvement. We're down two with four or five minutes left, 58-56, and we go on a 12-3 run to end the game. That's the difference. Guys stepped up and made plays down the stretch.

"Keith's not a 4-8 (FT) guy, and we did have some 1-2s down the stretch. But there are some things we can build off of. We didn't play our bench as much, but our bench wasn't very effective tonight, either. So we've got to get those young guys where they can come in and give us positive contributions and know what we're doing. And hopefully that will happen fast. Darnell came in and did some good things. Russell had his first marginal night of the year because he was just too excited, trying to look to score instead of getting the ball reversed. No matter what we said about slow down, ball reversal, push it but reverse it, guys were marginally open, so we shot it. And that's not the best formula for success when you're not making shots.

"We were way too hurried. The first half, did we take a ton of shots with guys' hands in our face? No. But we took a ton of shots with no rebounders in position; in transition, we took a guarded 15-footer. We didn't have anything going. This is about as bad offensively as we can do, but we still hung in there, rebounded the ball well. Got to take better care of the ball. But I'm happy to get out of here with the win. I'm not leaving here thinking we're at mid-season form, but when it's 58-56, I would have sold out for this.

"We played tight tonight, and I think that's to be expected with what these guys have gone through. But certainly we've got to get a lot better."
