DrJHawker's link to Matt Tait article on R(ock chalk) J(ayhawk) Hampton.

I like what is being reported, both by Tait and -- within Tait's article -- Corey Evans.

Fingers crossed...

Thanks, DrJ!

Rivals 4* SF Tristan Enaruna is visiting KU starting today. Currently ranked 105, expected to move up after the Rivals Spring 2019 final rankings come out. Looks to be a strong 3-4 year prospect. He is described as highly interested in KU. His two other interests are Miami and Creighton, but he looks to be a KU lean.

Tristan plays for Wasatch Academy in Mt Pleasant, Utah, but is from the Netherlands. Rivals Top 150 listing has him as 6-7/205, but recent stories indicate he is still growing. I've seen him listed as tall as 6-9 and 6-10.

He visited Miami and Creighton earlier, KU is his last visit. IIRC his folks are in country accompanying him on his visits. Would love to have him leave Lawrence signed with KU.

Another note on Rivals #105 4* Enaruna submitted today (paid link) from Rivals' National analyst Eric Bossi:

"I would expect a decision out of Enaruna by the end of the week. Very tight race between Kansas and Creighton. Creighton has some very deep ties to the kid and helped place him at Wasatch when he came to the states. My impression is that they (Creighton) are quite nervous about the Kansas visit. Picking Miami would be a surprise at this point.

...and a little later down the forum...

Regardless of where he goes, look for Enaruna to be one of the biggest movers in the final 2019 rankings release next week. Legit top 50 talent."

From 105 to Top 50 is a huge jump. I like his "Creighton is nervous" about the KU visit.

Hope we hear by Friday.

2020 Top 10 PG RJ Hampton and Top 20 SF Johnny Juzang reclassify to 2019

RJ Hampton post by porthawk

ESPN report on Juzang

The gurus have Hampton down to either KU or Memphis, with Hampton saying he will decide late July. But be advised - Tait reports Hampton's final four are now KU, Memphis, kensucky and -- replacing puke -- Texas Tech.

Juzang's final four interests are Kansas, Kentucky, Virginia and Oregon. He visited UK earlier this week.
From KC Star - Bedore: Johnny Juzang, who has reclassified to 2019, cuts list to four schools, including KU

Noted ESPN.com’s Adam Finkelstein: “Juzang is one of the best shooters in the class and very skilled with the ball across the board. That means that even if he isn’t the primary offensive weapon from day one, his ability to space the floor and stretch opposing defenses is likely to get him heavy minutes right away. Now, he isn’t likely to be the big guard that he thinks he is, especially on the defensive end of the floor, but if he doesn’t get distracted by that, he’s a prospect who can impact winning as a freshman.”

KU signees: Christian Braun moves up from 94 to 90; Issac McBride inched up from 104 to 103.

See the Origin post section OFFERS for rank updates for current KU recruits.

2020 reclassifier RJ Hampton is ranked at #6 for 2019, and Johnny Juzang is ranked 34.

More and more recruiting gurus are moving to predicting Hampton will choose KU, a sea change similar to that seen when the gurus switched from KU to Duke for Mathew Hurt. Rivals experts are 75% KU, no one for Memphis, the popular main contender with KU. 247Sports is now 53% and growing for KU, with Memphis falling behind at 27%.

Here’s hoping they are right.

Keeping 2019 recruiting info accessible via this main recruiting thread.

Corpus Jayhawk: So are KU’s 2020 recruiting fortunes changing?

FTR, this is the 2019 class for HS players signing now to start at KU in the fall semester of 2019. Although the sites such as Rivals and 247Sports are already looking ahead to the 2020 class — and beyond — I love my wife and would like to keep her.

Rock Chalk!

Earlier RJH was saying he would make his decision end of July after summer school (needed so he can graduate in time for Fall 2019 semester).

Reports now are that he has moved his decision date up to the end of May, which coincides with the 29 May NCAA deadline to withdraw from the draft and retain eligibility.

So does this bode well for KU — he is ready to decide and wants to spend the summer focusing on finishing his HS coursework — or he is waiting to see what Dotson will do, and will make his decision accordingly? And will Dotson returning be a plus or minus in his decision matrix?

Things that make you go “Hmmm...”

As reported yesterday, word is that Self has moved on from grad transfer TJ Holyfield after TJ missed a May 4 commitment deadline he had been given.

Learned this evening that newly reclassified Johnny Juzang chose UK.

The origin post has been updated to reflect these actions.

KU still waiting to hear commitments from RJ Hampton (decision date moved up from end of July to end of May after his KU visit), Rayjon Tucker (expected any day now) and Precious Achiuwa (Memphis still favored, but KU is moving up in guru’s estimates, and some think KU only if Silvio loses his appeal).

Speaking of Silvio’s appeal, nothing yet as I write this, and I know we’re all waiting for that and then end of month news that Devon is on his way back to the Hawks Nest.

Rock Chalk!

The journey continues in Lubbock! I'm happy to announce I've committed to the 2019 Big 12 Champions! Excited to be a part of the Red Raider family and ready to get back on the court again!

I was so hoping he would go Illini if not KU, especially since it looked like Tech had filled all of their 7 openings.

But today I read that yesterday (Friday May 10) Tech 6-10 sophomore forward Malik Ondigo announced his intention to put his name in the transfer portal, giving Beard an 8th opening. Oh, well.

Holyfield is going to give us holy hell next season, mark my words!

Ouch! Really wanted him on our perimeter raining 3s..

Rayjon Tucker chooses Memphis

The Arkansas-Little Rock graduate transfer left Auburn saying they were the team to beat, then really loved his KU visit, and this weekend he visited Memphis, and that's where he decided to play his last year in college instead of staying in the NBA draft.

If Hampton and Achiuwa choose KU, Self still has at least one ride open for next year, and up to three more if neither Silvio nor Devon return.

Any other prospects -- HS, JUCO or grad transfers -- KU is working on now that Holyfield and Tucker are off the board?

Some grad transfers who still haven't committed TTBOMK (in ESPN ranking order)

1. Kerry Blackshear, 6-10/249 PF, RS Jr., VaTech
4. Shakur Juiston, 6-7/220 PF, RS Jr., UNLV
8. Chris Clarke, 6-6, 215 pounds, PF, RS Jr., Virginia Tech
19. Jaevin Cumberland, 6-3, 185 pounds, SG, RS Jr., Oakland
20. Isaiah Moss, 6-5, 208 pounds, SG, Jr., Iowa
37. Ryan Woolridge, 6-3, 175 pounds, G, RS Jr., North Texas

Anyone got anything on JUCO's that may be in the mix?

Only one I know: Tristan Enaruna's brother Iyen is a 6-9 forward who just completed his freshman year at Cloud County Community College in Concordia Kansas (6.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG for 2018-19).

By the way, Tucker is NOT withdrawing from the draft at this point. Memphis is his fallback in case he doesn’t like what he hears at the NBA Combine.

Perhaps it’s just as well.

First,
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE MOMS OUT THERE!

Second.

His last two years with Iowa he averaged 40% from 3 and almost 84% from the free throw line.
Not a great finisher at the rim, as evidenced by his overall FG% being just 41%, and he shoots twos 59% of the time.
Ball handling and passing skills adequate as evidenced by his 1,26 A:TO ratio last year.

Bottom line - he can hit treys.

It really is big. He seemed like he fit in so well with the college game. He also seemed like a stand-up guy. My high school friend who went to Michigan is not a happy camper right now.
