"I thought the first half we did a terrible job on the offensive end. We were not taking good shots. We shoot 38%. In the second half we shoot 47%, and we missed some from two feet away from the basket. I don't know that I've ever had a team miss as many easy shots as we got in the second half, but they kept after it, kept after it. Defensively we were pretty good in the first half, but we were really good in the second half. Nick Bradford, I thought, was sensational. They give him credit for six steals, and we thought it was even more than that.

"The defensive end gives you a chance to get some easy ones on the break. I think in the first half we outscored them 16-4 on points off the break, yet it was still tied at the half. But the second half, we did take better shots, and we were more active defensively.

"We felt like we had to try to pressure them a little bit to get the turnovers (28). We went zone a couple of times just to try to stop fouling, but I wasn't comfortable in that, and I also knew we weren't getting many steals out of that. Defensively it was a good effort for us, especially in the second half.

"Cochran was 4-4 in the first half. Three of them were three-pointers. Twice we helped off of somebody else on the drive and left him, and weren't supposed to do that. But after that, I thought we did a good job against him.

"We had some Jayhawk people out there (in the crowd) tonight. We won maybe three years in a row up here, and then last year (69-84 loss) they waxed us pretty good down the stretch. But I think defensively we were just more active in the second half, and got better shots. And if you get better shots and get enough of them, you've got a better chance."
