Roy Williams - "We thought going in it would be a very difficult game, and we tried to prepare like that. And it was that until we made the run (15-2) halfway through the second half. We made a run with six or eight minutes left in the first half that gave us the 13-point lead at halftime. Then early in the second half we were either trading baskets with them or trading misses. Then about halfway through the second half we had another spurt and got things going, and basically it sort of snowballed from about the eight, nine, 10-minute mark on down to the end of the game.

"I thought Jerod Haase got us going defensively with a couple of big steals in the first half that Jacque either turns into layups for himself or assists at the other end. I thought the two guys who really did a better job for us defensively were Jerod and BJ. Defensively was where we got the break going. We didn't shoot the ball very well. Billy made three out of four I think in one stretch late in the game. And that's the reason the margin got as big as it was, because it wasn't that kind of basketball game.

"I felt good about what we did. It's a win, and we're still playing.

"I was very frustrated throughout a huge portion of the game, frustrated with several things that were going on out there on the court. I'll let you guys fill in the blanks there. But still we had two or three spurts defensively where we were really good, and I think that's what made the whole difference in the basketball game.

"We had matchup problems with them, particularly when they went with the lineup of Moore and Tuck as their two biggest guys, because I didn't want to take our big guys out and lose that advantage. Yet we needed to do something, because they did provide problems for us. In the first half they had 11 offensive rebounds, and they ended up having 20 for the game, which shows their athleticism and their quickness to the ball. They were a little quicker to the ball than we were, particularly early in the game."

CU coach Ricardo Patton - "There's no way we can win against a quality team and turn the ball over 26 times. (Kansas) played great. They played like the fifth-ranked team in the country.

"The next time you see the Colorado basketball team, you'll see a better team.

"The biggest thing we've got to improve on is our talennt. There aren't a lot of secrets about coaching basketball. The difference between teams is talent."
