Roy Williams - "Oklahoma did play very well. They jumped on us early and didn't let us breathe in the first half. I was pleased with the way our guys came back right before the half and was pleased with the way we played early in the second half. You gotta congratulate Oklahoma, though. We come back and take a four-point lead, but they still made some shots. Ryan (Minor) made two big threes in that stretch that hurt us, and we still came back. But we had some good shots at the end, either from the foul line or on the floor, and didn't make 'em (0-7 FG and 0-4 FT), and they made some big plays at the other end.

"Ryan did a good job for us after Jerod got in foul trouble. Billy Thomas has been really sick recently, and it's been hard to get him enough practice time to get his legs underneath him. He's probably played the last three games maybe less than he's played in his entire career in any stretch like that. But Ryan came in and made some shots for us and did some good things.

"We didn't play as well (as game vs. OU in Lawrence); Oklahoma played better. I think the biggest thing that hurt us was just getting off to such a start that we couldn't.... We weren't doing anything on the defensive end to keep them off the boards. I think the first six or eight minutes of the game they had six offensive rebounds. Four of those they converted to baskets. They were just more aggressive to every basketball, more aggressive whether the ball was coming off the board or coming off the floor, either one.

"It's also hard to win when the other team shoots 36 free throws, and I'll just let it go at that. I was not pleased with a lot of things today.

"You feel good about being 12-2, but nothing's gonna feel good after a game like that. We didn't play well."

Jacque Vaughn - "What I did like is we didn't fold. We showed some pride and fought back (from 21-38). But we didn't come out and match or surpass their enthusiasm, which is what we have to do.

"This definitely puts us at a crossroads. We can either get back on our feet or pack it up, because in a couple weeks you lose and it's the end of the season."

OU coach Kelvin Sampson - "It's been a roller coaster season. But I want this to be a lesson. True supporters stay with the Sooners, win or lose. Our crowd made a huge difference. That place was like a noise zone, something real loud.

"The key point is when we got down. I knew we'd play on emotion early. That didn't surprise me. But the second half I knew would be trench time. Did we have enough to sustain?"
