Roy Williams - "I like it (Williams' 200th victory) because it's number 16 more than it's number 200. It means something to me, but I think (talking about it) gives coaching too much credit. I like winning number 16 because it's instant gratification for these kids.

"At halftime I said the way we played we could be down by 25. I told them we had to be the aggressor, had to rev our engines. We were running in quicksand. It (second half improvement) was a change of attitude more than anything. Early in the second half we were pretty doggone good.

"They made it a six-point game, then Paul made two straight baskets. He got back in the swing of things.

"It was a great win for our team."

NU coach Danny Nee - "We had opportunities and again the turnover bug bit us. When that happens, a good team closes the door, which Kansas did.

"I thought the key would be transition defense, and that turned into a nightmare real quick.

"I really like Kansas' basketball team, and Pierce gives them another dimension from a year ago. Pierece was in a zone. He's a really fine player."
