Roy Williams - "I think we were really, really good defensively the first half. It is difficult to hold your concentration with that kid of a lead. Most of the time this team has been able to do that. I was a little disappointed with what we did in the second half.

"One thing we wanted to do since it did get out of hand so quickly is make sure everybody got a lot of time. I've worked them pretty hard this week. They are a little weary now. It's one of those time periods ol' coach Williams is not as nice a guy as everybody thinks he is.

"He (Paul Pierce) does have an ability to score, and tonight he showed that again. We told him somebody was simling on him at that point (first shot of the night) when you bank in a three-pointer from the top of the key. Not a bad night for 20 minutes. What I was pleased with more than anything was his work on the backboards. One thing he must continue to emphasize is rebounding, because that is one area in which he can help us so much."

ETSU coach Alan LeForce - "It's (ETSU schedule) worse than tough. It's murder.

"In the second half I like that we really didn't quit, but the game was over in the first half.

"I was disappointed we didn't move offensively. A team is intimidated when it doesn't move, and we had no movement. It was just dribble and shoot.

"I thought one of their (KU's) weaknesses was their outside shooting, but they shot the three well."
