Roy Williams - "We haven't played that many games out here (California), but we do enjoy coming out here and we do enjoy letting our kids play in front of their family and friends. Let's move the NCAA tournament out here.

"Raef and Scot and Paul really played well on the backboards. And (the California kids) always like to play in front of family and friends.

"I jumped Paul Pierce in practice yestereday, because he was hitting only one-third of his shots. I don't know what the big difference was tonight. He got into the flow early and made most of his baskets. He's a talented youngster.

"I don't know how important it was for us to have a big offensive night, but we needed to execute better on offense. And I think we did that tonight. It's also important to realize that, because we did a good job on the backboards, we had a lot of close shots. That helps your precentage."

USD coach Brad Holland - "I'm not sure anything good came out of this, except we experienced playing the top team in the country.

"I thought we competed well at times against them. The things that impressed me the most besides balance in team scoring was rebounding. They had the ability to get several second-chance points. Part of it is we didn't block out, part they are tall and athletic. It was a tough night."
