Season summary

"There's a lot of stories from this game, but the one that sticks out in my mind is their defense was better than our defense. They challenged every shot, every pass, every dribble. We didn't get many second-shot opportunities. To me, it's just like that in a nutshell.

"We came out early in the second half and were more aggressive, more active. We got out in the lanes and got a couple of steals and got right back in the basketball game. But right after that we seemed to lose our intensity a little bit, and they never did lose theirs. We made that run, but they never seemed to get frustrated, and you have to congratulate them. They're an experienced team, and they really looked like it.

"I've said since the summer and all fall and all preseason they're the team to beat in this league because of their experience factor and their number of experienced players. They're talented, but they're also experienced. They have six guys who started at least 10 games last year. And now they add O'Liney to it, who was the most valuable player in the national junior college tournament.

"In the first half Greg missed a layup, Patrick missed a layup, Richard misses one, Sean misses one. and you look back and we only had six shots inside the lane in the first half, and we missed five of them. And that's good defense on their part, because we evidently were looking to see where the defense was coming from instead of keeping our eyes on the target.

"They took a big jump in the league race. They were a little bit in the driver's seat before the game, but they're really in the driver's seat now. But still, it's just the first half. In baseball they play an all-star game, and like I said today, they don't crown the American laague champion before the all-star game. There's still a second half of the season to play, and they've got some tough games, we've got some tough games. and hopefully our play will put us in a chance to play a meaningul game when they come back and play us."
