"Give Stanford credit. They were much better than us today. Even though we took a one-point lead with about eight minutes left, we weren’t better than them today. We could have been, but we weren’t. They controlled the game from start to finish, and we didn’t look very good. We looked slow, we looked lethargic, and our skills looked bad. When you don’t pass it and you don’t shoot it, you’re not going to look very good. And this was probably as poor a performance as I’ve seen a good team have as far as passing and shooting the basketball.

"Six assists and 19 turnovers are stats that reflect somebody who can’t play. We’re better than that, but we were 2-19 from three today, and you can’t shoot it any worse than that. But what bothers me more than that, we don’t pass it. And this was not uncommon. This is what we see every day in practice. We’ve got to get much better at passing the basketball, because we are a very poor passing team right now.

"Stanford didn’t have a hard time getting the ball inside. All you’ve got to do is catch it and throw it to them and be able to deliver it. But when you don’t want to shoot it, you don’t want to make a play, and you catch the ball outside of the scoring area, then they can back up, and sure you can’t get the ball into the post. These are things I think we’ll get better at. I believe they’re correctable. These are things we’ve got to address, and we’ve been addressing them because that’s obviously the biggest weakness of this team.

"This is a good event. Anything that has Coach Wooden’s name on it is great. It’s disappointing--we come all the way out here and perform like that. It doesn’t leave a very good taste in anyone’s mouth. But this is a learning process. And I’m not being negative; we’re not the #1 team in America. We’re a Top 15 team that has a chance to get a lot better. That’s the way I see it. We haven’t been a great practice team, and over the course of time you play like you practice. We’ve got to get where we become a great practice team. I’m not saying we can’t be a great team, but we’re not there now. Guys need to understand that we’re not, and we’ve got to do a lot of things to get to where we want to be. But there is potential."
