... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL NIGHT!

Monday at 8:00 PM CT on Peacock ($$$) our AP8* KANSAS JAYHAWKS (19-6|9-3) travel back to Bill’s alma mater for another opportunity to swoop in and out, escaping the bal-chatri that is Gallagher-Iba Arena with his 4th straight win there. Self has improved his record against his alma mater in recent years, winning the last 3 games played in GIA, 5 of the last 6, and overall winning 16 of the last 19 games played against the Cowboys.

ESPN's Matchup Predictor says KANSAS wins 78% of the time (link). The spread is 6.5 points in KU’s favor

asteroid’s predictions for Oklahoma State game average out to a 73.7% likelihood of a KU road win, with a 7.5 point edge and a score of KU 82, OKS 74 or 75.

Here is the link to CorpusJayhawk’s Rock Chalk Challenge newsletter projection. Corpus says it up front - KU must win out to have a shot at the title and controls it's own destiny! The DPPI is projecting a (rounded) 81 to 75 KU win, with a probablity of 67.3% that JAYHAWKS WIN!! Corpus himself thinks the KU defense is going to do better and KANSAS wins 80-70.

Here's to KU getting optimal performances (over a full game, I would add) for both DP and Tre. Along with same from the entire squad, and to seeing the team work much more smoothly and efficiently (on both ends) with DP playing.

The Pokes really like to get out and run, and can hit 3s. We need to contain both, and counter with jabs, upper-cuts, and haymakers that seal the deal for a crimson and blue win.

Go Hawks!

13 conference games down, 5 to go.

81 KANSAS
69 Oklahoma St

With Self's KANSAS Jayhawks now 10-8 in GIA and his
4th straight win over OKS in GIA and
5th win in last 6 games played there,
I'm thinking we can say that the bal-chatri just doesn't have the same impact on Self and his teams that it clearly did in the first half of his career at KANSAS.

This was also Self's
9th straight win in last 10 overall games played and
17th win overall in the last 20 games played versus OKS,
bringing his total record to date against his alma mater to
30-11 Overall
16-2 in AFH
10-8 in GIA
4-1 in neutral sites (all Big 12 Tournament games)

NEXT in THE GAUNTLET
Feb 21 Sat Cincinnati AFH 12:00 PM CBS

Note that any game on Peacock also is shown on the recently revived NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) which luckily is included in my YouTube TV subscription.

Was not a fan of the Peacock coverage. Seemed like production quality was less than stellar. Felt like it was a local/regional broadcast. But better than the old days were some games were simply unavailable out of market.

I didn't think much of DP sitting most of the 2nd half since it was a blowout, and he dropped 20 in the first half. Seems like the post-game comments was more of a situation that he couldn't go rather than a strategic decision. That's troubling.

But at this point, it also confirms to me that there it's almost certainly an actual physical issue rather than some kind of conspiracy between his family, agent, and other handlers to somehow keep him out of games. It also seems like he wanted to play more. Allegedly he OSU fans were taunting him during pre-game and he kind of gave them a "sit down and watch what I'm about to do" look. He certainly did it in the first half, but I'm sure he wanted to keep it going in the 2nd.

Concerning to be sure, but at least I think we know he's got an actual issue and it isn't some kind of other BS.

I'm not sure what to make of the DP situation.

This is the first time I heard HCBS reference it as being a "concern" (in his post game press conference).

And this is the quartet on ESPN's First Take talking about him.

I know a lot of people are not fans of Stephen A., but I think he (and the other pundits) make some fair points.

One of the pundits put it best (maybe Barstool?):

DP has only 2 stories to tell the NBA:

1.) I was just faking it so save myself for you guys. Implication: I'm a toxic individualist with no regard for his team who is very comfortable lying.

2.) It's true that I've had all these aiments and health issues, but I'm sure that they'll all magically disappear when I sign an NBA contract. Implication: he has long-term health issues making him a risky roster choice for an NBA team.

That's what's so baffling. There is no scenario where this is good for him.
