Nothing shocking in here...but it punctuates the point that the key to building an elite team is to have superb balance in offense and defense (as opposed to skewing to one side like KU did this year), and gathering as many shooters as possible - including at the 4 and 5 positions.

Strip away all the complexity and it's a simple game, as Coach Self often says: put the ball in the hoop often (especially nowadays from behind the arc) and impede your foe from doing the same.

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

Konza, as you referenced in your original post as well as this one: www.rockchalk.com/index.php/forum/basket...ck-is-gone-too#18430 , not having consistent outside shooting next year is a concern for me as well. If we don't have shooters who can keep defenses honest, it'll be easier for opponents to pack the paint to prevent our bigs from scoring. Hopefully Dotson, Grimes, Moore, Lawson, Langford (if we add him) and an improved-shooting Garret can provide some solid outside shooting.

According to this article (related to recruiting), HCBS wants another shooter (be it Langford or someone else if we don’t land him).

Whether the Jayhawks land Langford or not, it seems certain that Kansas will look to add another player in the 2018 class to help fill out next year's roster.
“We definitely have to get someone,” Self recently told the Journal-World. “I think we need another shooter for sure.”

And having the experience definitely is important, too. Villanova had 6 redshirt players. Some of the players on Villanova said that during DiVincenzo’s redshirt season (’15-’16), he simulated Buddy Hield on the scout team to help prepare his team for the Final 4 matchup against Oklahoma. His energy, effort, and attention to detail really got his teammates ready to play.
