"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
....although no agent, so he's leaving the door open.

I personally don't think he'll get drafted. Hope he's getting good advice.

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
The last of our outside shooters from this season moves on.
I know a lot of people are sky-high on KU's chances next year, but when all 4 of your proven outside shooters depart, it raises legit questions about how, whether, and by whom that gaping vacuum will be filled.
I know it was Malik's time to go, but he, in particular, will be the most missed among the two who could've returned.

He's not coming back.

I don't recall who posted it, but someone wrote that they had on good authority that both Vick and Newman would be gone after this year. Whoever it was, you obviously have good sources. I will miss them both and wish they would have stayed but it is probably time for both to move on. If you cut out the Big 12 season, Vick was a guy who looked like at least a second rounder and I don't think he's reached his ceiling. He'll make money playing somewhere, hopefully the NBA. I really think Newman will end up on an NBA roster next year. With the way Newman performed in the post-season, he proved he can play at the next level. The kid finally showed his potential, and was just great!
With what we have coming in next year, as long as Dok stays, I think we're a solid top 5 team. I can't wait to see Lawson and Dok teamed up at the 4 and 5. Obviously, not many teams can lose 4 starters and still be a top 5 team, or make the Final Four during a rebuilding year. We're lucky to be Jayhawk fans!
