Well, I just learned (source: Shay @JayhawkSlant, posting there) that the Preston issue has never gone to the NCAA. Preston has always been held out by Self until “the matter is solved” (Shay’s words). Preston could play tomorrow if Self chose to put him in.

But Self is on record that the decision was not on his schedule, it was on someone else’s schedule. So if not the NCAA’s, whose?

Did Billy need to do something to solve the matter before Self will reinstate him?

Has he done it, and is Self waiting to spring him on Boeheim on Saturday?

Or is he - or whoever - in the process of completing whatever needs to be done to solve the matter in time for him to play on Dec 6 against Washington?

Inquiring minds want to know... but that’s all we have for now...

Billy didn’t make the trip to Miami so he won’t be a surprise for Syracuse. Billy is tainted so Self won’t play him until the car’s finances are completely understood. He doesn’t want to lose a lot of victories like today’s opposing coach.

A couple days ago, HawkErrant posted something about Preston potentially being in the lineup tonight. Looks like that's not happening. Can't find ANY credible info on this other than "we're still waiting".

Still no leaks either. Have I missed anything out there?

You haven’t missed anything, NotO. IIRC what I mentioned was Self wishful thinking out loud. Nothing out there at all today about BP playing tonight. Self did repeat his “soon” mantra on his talk show on Monday, but he wasn’t any more specific.

I do note that the official roster on KUAthletics.com now lists #55 James Sosinski.

Yeah, I was more or less just commenting to get this bumped up toward the top.

We are about 1/4 of the way through the season and he has not played at all. I would think he would have to be extremely frustrated by that. I have no knowledge of anything about what is going on but you know he wanted to show NBA scouts what he could do so maybe he would be drafted after this year and he does not even get a chance. Hopefully it all works out for the best but I think he has got to be frustrated.

Self reports nothing new to report today (Friday 8 Dec).

Not encouraging news at all.

In truth, at this point no news is bad news.:pinch:

Keegan talking an optimistic HCBS this afternoon. Link.

Of interest to me is the comment that the case has not yet gone to the NCAA... and Self's comment that once it does there will be a quick turnaround.

Yeah, he's optimistic, all right.

Video from today's presser.

Includes a bit on DeSousa. Self feels the big stumbling block (my words, not his) is not his test scores. It's more a matter of getting some still incomplete stuff from Angola, which I interpret as core course info and grades.

Maybe he could pick up a few quick credits from UNC? Certainly those could substitute for some elementary grades they may be seeking.

YES. I am STILL bitter!!!

That has been my frustration on this. They worry about 6th grade transcripts in other countries for KU players but if UNC players gets credit for a class that is a complete farce that is not an issue. It is just so ridiculous.

FWIW -- and it's pure scuttlebut from a grizzled old dude like me, so who knows -- I was told just an hour ago in Johnny's West that the NCAA now has everything on Preston's situation from KU's lawyers.

Absolutely nothing being reported anywhere on this -- KUSports.com, JayhawkSlant, KC Star, etc. -- as I write this

Guess we'll see if there is any truth in it soon enough.

In the meantime -- beat the Huskers!

Rock Chalk!

Too quiet. I tend to be apprehensive/paranoid, but after Cliff and considering the Adidas indictments I and very pessimistic about BP suiting up?
