Roy Williams - "It's (Temple's matchup zone) different. They're more aggressive on the ball in a zone than we're used to.

"No excuse. No reason. They beat our tails. It would have been a shame, quite honestly, if we'd have won the game.

"We didn't move as well. We weren't as active inside. Still, as badly as we played offensively, if we do the job on Marc Jackson, we may still win the game. Their big guys kicked our tails. Marc Jackson kicked our tails.

"It was a total breakdown. Maybe we were ripe.

"Things had been awfully smototh. You've got to have some adversity. I was not looking for it. It will be interesting to see how we react to it."

TU coach John Chaney - "Geez, this is the worst team I've ever had in my llife. They can't shoot free throws, they can't play offense, but they can play defense. "He's (Jackson) a kid that has a lot of talent. he can hit that 10- to 15-foot jump shot. but we wanted him in there mixing it up.

"In other games he was playing Yankee Doodle Dandy and shoing all these jump shots and hook shots. We wanted him inside getting beat up, and that's what he did tonight. Thank God for Marc Jackson.

"Our defense is always good. It's just difficult for us to make the pieces fit offensively.

(On knocking off the #1 team in the country) "Once you get ranked, and I've been ranked before, it seems like you're always trying to keep rom sinking, always sticking a sandbag in a hole. Once you're knocked out, I think you can coach better and just go out and play."
