Roy Williams - "I did like the focus of our team particularly on the defensive end of the floor.

"It was a very matter-of-fact thing. I told them we were playing a team that we were better than. We were more fifted, more talented.

"I didn't want them to think it was an exhibition. It was not. It was a game. It did count. You can't play Indiana, Utah, UCLA, and Temple every single game. You've got to play some other people. This is one of those times.

"I was pleased with what we accomplished, yet we should win and should win by a big margin, because we are more talented than they are."

PSU coach Gene Iba - "I said coming in that this is a win-win situation. I'm still sayhing this after a bad game. KU can't play 26 high-intensity games, three Big 8 tournament games, and the NCAA tournament without a break. Why not make it Kansas schools?

"There were some K-State people down there all fired up. There are a lot of Kansas kids on this team who were ready to play.

"We played good in certain parameters. They obviously took us out of our game with their defense.

"Our kids like the opportunity as a Division II school to play Division I teams. This team is the top one as many people regard.

"You've got to realize that our basketball team hasn't been together as a group very long. If I had another year to prepare for this game, we'd put more size out there and had been more competitive. I'm not saying we would have won, but we could at least have given them a better game.

"They destoryed some things of ours with their tall players inside. We had to ask kids 6'4 to do things with their lob."
