"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Excellent news tonight!
Now that we are back home from vacation I will update the stuff needing updating in the pinned threads - once I'm over this cold. Anna picked it up on our flight home, and seems I've picked it up from her. She's getting better as I am sinking into the doldrums. Still, it seems all we do is sleep most of the day. Bleah! We've missed two live theater shows this week (Theatre Lawrence on Sunday and Lied Center tonight) because of this stuff.
Doesn't help that I am still having trouble accessing this site on all our Apple products - my iPhone, iPad and Anna's iPhone, whether using Chrome or Safari. Has to be our iOS products have been hacked and it hasn't spread to oiur Windows devices. (I don't care what I read in the industry reviews or what Norton says - the Norton 360 Security app seems to be much better, with more scan options, for Windows based products than for iOS ones).
Reckon when we upgrade our iOS products in the near future we will be doing cold starts with them, no transfers from the old phones or iPad to the new ones.
Oh, well...

NIL and the portal have ruined college sports.
Looks like a good hire. Hope he pans out. After the recent experiences building teams around a shiny object of a player (Dickenson, Petersen) I hope the latest reorg works out. So far, that model has had questionable results.
I'm also curious how the Adidas/Nike issue was worked out. Will KU have to switch to Nike to accommodate him (I hope not). Will he be forced to wear Adidas despite having a deal with Nike? Is there a loophole where he'll be allowed to wear something different than the rest of the team?
Hope he's worth it. Apparently the exodus by most of the rest of the team to the portal was largely a result of Self having to put a lot of his NIL eggs into one basket.
Sorry for the lackluster enthusiasm. I am happy that Kentucky lost out, but I can't pretend that our getting him has anything to do with the program, the university or the community and everything to do with simply outbidding our rivals.
