Kansas is Having Alarming Mass Exodus in Transfer Portal (SI)

Reading this just now did not make feel good in any way whatsoever.

I'm not panicking yet. Flory declared last year and came back...pretty sure it was an NIL find-out-what-he's-worth move. But he's no doubt worth a lot more after this past season (ESPN has him at #1 in the portal), so we probably can't afford him and the incoming stars (especially if Stokes picks KU). I doubt Flory is coming back. Wherever he ends up, I hope he doesn't declare for the draft. I don't think his offensive game is ready yet.

Mbiya showed big flash at the very end, and Tiller just needs another summer under his belt to get his head back in the game. I had big hopes for them. Hope they change their mind

As an aside, as the Portal and NIL grow deeper roots, I'm surprised more players don't test the waters...they have ALL of the leverage. Problem is recruiting while waiting on players to make up their mind. I think I recall a KU player that went portal and (per an interview from said player) Self basically told him to not let the door hit him in the ass on the way out, i.e. he didn't have time for that nonsense.

The staff needs to get to work, and they must have had targets already identified given players’ agents are actively shopping them during the season. I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on the type of players that KU needs to get to pair with the incoming freshmen. The basic operating premise each offseason should be is that you return very little to no experience and you should get best talent and build style around it. The programs that can do that will succeed. Unfortunately, Self has to accelerate development timeline which means play your most talented guys, and live w/ mistakes. Is Self capable of this?

I don't know why you think this is alarming. I'm looking,Kentucky lost six players, North Carolina lost seven players, Houston lost three, Texas Tech four, Ole Miss five, Tennessee six. It literally goes on and on. It's stupid. It's ruined the game. I don't care if kids make money. We knew that was happening. None of them care about the Kansas tradition. None of them understand what commitment means. This is absolutely out of control and it honestly makes it so that I don't even care about the sport right now. I don't even think I would care if KU brought in five or seven players and we won a national championship because they're just going to be gone in a year. Like when Hunter Dickinson said "It's what we do at KS" or something like that. It was lame because he didn't even understand KS traditions and if he liked KU so much wide he go somewhere else for three years. They don't care about Kansas. It's all about money now. Gone are the days when we would get a freshman in that would grow into an awesome player over a three or four year period. You would get to know them, even from a distance and actually learn to really like and care for them. Then watch them on senior night and feel something special for them this is ridiculous now. It's ruined it for me.
