March Madness Done- April Lunacy (Portal) Begins

Now that Michigan has cut down the nets, happy for my nephew who is a KU/UM Medical school alumni, and more importantly UCONN lost.

But now the lunacy starts. The Transfer Portal is open, and it looks like all of the KU team is headed to free agency.

What does KU’s roster need to compliment the incoming freshmen? Michigan built a roster 9 players deep, does HCBS have the patience and flexibility to do this? He had no choice in 04-05, which eventually led to ‘08 championship.

IMHO- need big wings, and athletic 5 ( see Mara) and big combo guards. All need to be able to shoot. Bench needs to be 3-4 deep. Get offensive players, coaches can teach D.

9 deep is a choice. If you're gonna play 9 regularly, you have to practice 9, and because of the various player permutations that takes a lot more practice time than 8 or 7. Even when Self had the talent, he rarely went past 8 once conference play started. It's not a negative, it's a choice on how to prioritize NCAA-limited practice time.
