Amazingly, Kansas blew the western state swing for the second year in a row, yet somehow
managed to earn the 3 seed in the conference tournament. Bleacher Report is predicting
an Arizona versus Kansas final, but with the Wildcats winning. Getting that far just
might earn Kansas a 3 seed in the Big Dance.

The biggest surprise this season is TCU, who finished 3.5 wins ahead of the preseason
projection. The biggest disappointment is BYU, who finished 3.7 wins behind their
preseason projection. Errors of 3 projected wins are not unusual historically.

No surprise, but both Alabama and Auburn moved ahead of Kansas is the strength of
schedule rankings. A deep run in the Big XII tournament could help Kansas retake
a higher spot, given the strength of the top of the conference.

So the conference season ended with 50 road wins, two ahead of the long-term one-in-three
average, but that is within the historical range of departures from one-in-three.
