exactly what to make of that game. This team looks so confident and tough at home, and so soft and lousy on the road. I still don't think they play very well with Peterson, but he deserves credit for his efforts yesterday. He missed a lot of shots, but he kept them in the game and almost pulled them even in the second half. White got some points late, but he was awful before that. Jackson drives the ball pretty well, but can't finish, and everyone except perhaps Council looked a step slow all game long. The lack of another good big man is really a liability. I have never understood Self's substitution patterns, if one can even call them that. Dawson comes in, nails a three, rims out another, and is pulled. KU cuts it to two, and he takes Peterson out. Gassed, I guess? Mbiye (sp?) might be able to help if he had ever been given any playing time earlier this season, but hey, that's the way Coach rolls. Disheartening to watch.

This is 3 years ongoing where KU offense is ranked outside top 50 in KenPom, and btw KU hasn’t won the league for 3 years for first time since 99-01. The last two years were no fun and this year the team is frustratingly fun.
HCBS always talks about making the other team play ugly, but doesn’t talk about offense, and it makes me wonder if he is just built for positionless, volume shooting no D type of games He won’t play Kohl over Jackson, Jackson isn’t cutting it right now. He never develops a bench, needed another big to eat minutes when Tiller goes out. I just don’t get it. There should be no world where KU is not getting its pick of recruits and transfers. U of A pulled together a formidable team, but they can’t shoot, where is the zone. When they rallied, they cut off Burris drives and forced a lot of jump shots. DP goes out and Az makes their run.
HCBS is a great coach but maybe time to start building out a short list (Golden, May..etc) …thing is NIL changes status of a job.

Sometimes one has to just acknowledge that the other team was better. There is a reason they are Nationally ranked as hoigh as they are. Plus it was a home game for them. From a talent perspective, UA has some very good players and better depth at the bigs. I was at the UA/KU game here in AFH and felt we got a lot of breaks from the refs. I was only able to follow a little of the game yesterday but from what little I observed, the opposite was the case. Home crowd? KU was just a little slower on defense? Win the last two games and we should get the double bye.
