Great game. The team was thoroughly tested and they passed with flying colors.
i think what I'm enjoying most about this team was that they're exceeding expectations. Preseason they were predicted to be good but not great. The first half of the season reflected that, and combined with Peterson's issues, it wasn't looking good.
Fast forward to yesterday and the guys knocked off the #1 team in the country without Peterson. Council, Budinga, White, McDowell, etc are all elevating their games and have become a top team without their star. Throw Peterson into the mix and we're even tougher.
It's going to be tough in Ames and I'm guessing that we'll be the underdog. Nevertheless, a month ago I'd be dreading what would likely be a beatdown. Now, I think the Cyclones are worried as they should be. More importantly, it seems like our guys have a chip on their shoulder and have something to prove.
So much better than being picked as a top 5 team in the preseason and then petering out at the bottom of the rankings.
