• Bill Self's top (for now) 2026 signee
Taylen Kinney Named McDonald's All-American
• And the industry is expecting him to be joined soon by another Mickey D selection, everyone's #1 2026 HS recruit Tyran Stokes. Stokes attended the BYU game on an unofficial visit last Saturday (he had already had an official visit to KU)

• On Sunday JayhawkSlant's Shay Wildeboor provided this update on the status of Stokes recruitment -
"Everybody I’ve talked to maintains that Kansas is still the team to beat. I spoke to someone yesterday who was leaving the media room and said they would see me when Stokes makes his debut inside Allen Fieldhouse next season.
I still feel strongly about Stokes, but nothing is done until he signs. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes, but from everything I’ve been told, Kansas is still the team.
Only time will tell."

• Here is an article with the complete listing of who made (and who didn't make) the 2026 Mickey D team.
247Sports - Eric Bossi: Top ranked Tyran Stokes, Jordan Smith headline 2026 McDonald's All American Game rosters
• With 8 weeks to the day to go before the game,16 of the 24 McDonald's All Americans remain uncommitted and undecided on their college choice. There was only one undecided player in the game in 2024, and only two undecideds in the 2025 game. In other words, if prior results can predict future performance, we can expect to see some top ranked commitment decisions made in the next 8 weeks.
• So now the question is, with KANSAS having at least 3 available 2026 scholarship/roster spots available, will Self & Co land any other Burger Boys beyond Kinney (because Stokes simply is not a commitment yet) this year)?
Here's hoping the answer is YES INDEED, Stokes + at least one more!
And note that even if KU does get Stokes and one other, there will still be openings for portal transfers to try to become the next Dawg & Tre Show balancing out the influx of youth.
