"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

Really nice chat with Jon Rothstein querying Bill Self.
Great example: what was it like watching DP against BU in AFH?
Like watching Kevin Durant.
Also - Sounds to me like Bill is really amped to coach for a while.
Enjoy, Jayhawks fans!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
You beat me to the punch.
I just finished it myself, and was about to come on here and post it.
The Durant part was my favorite too - funny, I had the pleasure of watching it with my Hawk-loving son (now 21 and attending college away from home), since his school hadn't started yet then. We just kept shaking our heads in awe as DP hit shot after shot (from all over the court) and I turned to him and said "I haven't seen someone go off like this in Allen since KD."
The rest of the interview was superb. For folks wanting a preview, he talks about a myriad of subjects, from his health and desire to continue to this team's ceiling, what it's been like to coach 2 squads (sans DP and with DP), who the wild card player or players are that he thinks holds the key to KU becoming elite (I won't give it away), what it's like building solid rosters in the portal era, and how many teams in the gauntlet that is the Big 12 this year he believes have what it takes to potentially get to the Final Four.
Good stuff. Can't wait for Saturday. Rock Chalk...
