Knights in black & gold
KU plays there again.
We remember the first time,
We didn't like the end.
This makes the third time
in five meets in their home.
It's the conference opener,
Bring a W home.
"Cause it's Big 12.
Yes, it's Big 12
and it's a...
... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL DAY!!
Saturday at 12:30 PM (Tipoff 1:00 PM) CT on PEACOCK and NBC SN, our 10-3 KANSAS JAYHAWKS face the Knights of Johnny Dukie, er Dawkins, once again in Orlando. The Jayhawks are 3-1 against the Knights, and have played two out of the previous four games in Orlando, losing 60-65 in January 2024 and trouncing the Black & Gold in January 2025 by 99-48. Now would be a good time to win the rubber match in Addition Financial Arena.
KUAthletics.com: KANSAS vs UCF Results
Last year for the first time in 34 years (since losing to OU in 1991 under Roy) KANSAS lost it's conference opening game.
Start a new win streak, Jayhawks! If you can't beat UCF, you are in for a verrry rough year this year. (To be accurate, it looks to be a rough year win or lose, so winning would be really, really nice!)
First and foremost on everyone's minds - Peterson is GO! . In comments late this week Self said he expects DP to play, and the linked Covers.com Injuries list does NOT have his name on it!
ESPN's Matchup Predictor favors KANSAS to win 67% of the time (link).
asteroid had not posted his predictions for this game at post time.
CorpusJayhawk has posted his Rock Chalk Challenge newsletter with the predictions for this game (and soooo much more) with KU squeaking out a road win in Orlando. (link) (Okay, his DPPI says it's a toss-up, but Corpus thinks KU wins by 6, so I stand by my interpretation.)
Here's some more links to make you think...

Welcome back (again), Darryn!
Get 'er done, Jayhawks!

Yeah, I saw some old articles about that when "NBC SN" first popped up.asteroid wrote: Um, Peacock AND NBC SN? NBC SN was shut down four years ago.
Apparently NBC SN has been Frankensteined.
Both the KUAthletics.com Game Notes (see link) and the ESPN game page reported the game being carried on Peacock (NBC's streaming app for those who may not know) and NBC SN. My DirecTV channel guide shows two NBC SN channels, but our game was not on either of those. From reading posts in JayhawkSlant apparently youtubetv carries NBC SN as well.
Maybe technical limitations led NBC to determine they couldn't reach their target audience with just the Peacock app?
IDK.

I heard the announcers say that the Arizona/Utah game was on Peacock and NBC SN, and I figured they would know what they're talking about. But Google AI said NBC SN was shut down four years ago. If it's been resurrected, Google AI apparently couldn't find news about that. I did a search on my DVR, and it said "Watch NBC Sports on Peacock". Fortunately for me, Spectrum includes a subscription to Peacock as part of its cable package, so I was able to stream the game (after jumping through hoops to create an account). Kudos to Peacock for a flawless video stream (technically speaking; one can always pick on the announcers, and in this case, the outcome). Will we have other games on Peacock this season?

NBCSN is in fact back from the dead. They supposedly will be co-broadcasting Peacock sports events, at least they did yesterday. Fortunately YouTube TV carries NBCSN.
