HCBS is already on record that he is not expecting KU football player Jaden Nickens to join the team over the winter break. You will recall that when KUFB was recruiting Nickens the defensive back came with the agreement from HCBS that he could join the hoops squad after football season. I’m not sure of the whys and wherefores, but it’s clear now it’s not going to happen.
That leaves one opening on the roster should Self & Co find a suitable candidate. Last year the winter break add was Bryson Tiller, who redshirted and spent his time rehabbing with the KU medical team and getting a leg up on everything else athletic and academic at KU.
This year? KU has no one in its sights for a winter add, and Self does not expect to have one. But he also isn’t ruling one out if a solid addition appears.
