"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

And Flory's quote (the last line of the article) brings in more of that doggedness!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Thanks, Port. I love the fact, per the article, that a Jayhawk in the Pantheon - Super Mario - has been giving him game advice. The fact that former players love the program enough to mentor current players is a wonderful thing.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Honestly, I was just happy we won. Imgaine having the game of a lifetime and losing. UGH. Glad we didn't have to explore that kind of emotional conflict.
Don't suppose that the Towson staff had gone back and edited their scouting report, so you?

Regarding Towson staff - oh yeah, they’re not going to want to give Mel the chance to get hot early like NC State did.

You mean like Kevin Durant - twice - against KU in 2007? Incredible games, both won by KU.NotOstertag wrote: Honestly, I was just happy we won. Imgaine having the game of a lifetime and losing. UGH. Glad we didn't have to explore that kind of emotional conflict.

This was one of the single best performances I've watched in all my years. It's up there with some of Collison's massive games, the Elijah Johnson going for 39 against Iowa St. This was just awesome because of them daring him and he absolutely killed it. I thought during the game "finally, it's happening to someone other than KU...a player is having the game of their life and it's for US!!!!!"
I'm really liking this team. Only loses to two top fives and a top 15 team will give us a huge advantage come tourney time. I know there we will be some more losses and I truly hope we get Peterson back at full speed sometime and fully round out. I believe the ceiling is very high!
