Rivals top 2027 recruit Bruce Branch III reclassifies to 2026
KU is in the hunt, word is Self really wants him.
For 2026 Rivals has him #4,
247Sports #8.
Apparently ESPN hasn’t placed him in 2026 yet, had him #2 overall in the 2027 class.
He’s adidas.
My question is if KU lands overall #1 prospect SF Tyran Stokes, does Bill keep after Branch? Both SF - as is current KU 2027 commit Javon Bardwell, who is also being talked about as reclassifying to 2026.

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Stokes is Nike, right? That would be a coup…

Stokes is indeed Nike, which has kept people from thinking adidas branded KU has little chance.
But the current whispers are that KU is definitely in the running.
I reckon the biggest question for KU regarding Stokes is what impact does his recent troubles (essentially agreeing to leave his current HS due to an altercation where he reportedly hurt another guy) have on KU's desire to have him if he wants to come?
Given the talk is that KU is indeed still pursuing him, it seems the impact is not significant enough for them to drop him.

By the way, Rainier Beach should ring a bell with you.
CJ Giles was a Viking.
And word is Townsend has strong ties with them.

Following up reading more on 6-7/185 SF Bruce Branch III* these past few days and read he has a promising and evident skill set that includes scoring from inside, medium and long range.
I am also reading that while 2026 #1 Tyran Stokes (6-7/230) is a physical "freak" whom you gladly take if he wants to come to your program, he also needs to work on developing his skill set.
The comparisons I'm reading indicate Branch is the superb shooter, Stokes is the beast.
Not having seen either of them, I can't really say who I would want if I could only have one.
But I do so really like scorers who are great shooters and can hit from everywhere, if you know what I mean.
*reminder - Branch was Rivals 2027 #1; for 2026 he is #4 after reclassifying.
