Saturday... in The Phog...
I think it was November 15
Saturday... in The Phog...
It's playing out just like a dream.
Will it be a good or bad one?
Only time will tell
But Darryn's out again...

Can our young men ride the Tiger?
Bring home another Jayhawk victory?
Seems we've been waiting such a long time... for Saturday... and another...

... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL DAY!!

Fellow member of the Top 25 All Time Winningest Programs club Princeton (2-1) comes to THE PHOG today.*

KU leads the series 2-0, last time winning 78-62 at Princeton on 2001-12-12.

Self is holding Peterson out yet again. Remy Martin redux?
Odds D(N)P is suited up for Duke next Tuesday in Madison Square Garden?

KUAthletics.com: KU men's basketball hosts Princeton
From the article: Through three games, Kansas is averaging 81.7 points per game with a plus-20.3 scoring margin. The Jayhawks pull down 38.3 rebounds per game with a plus-8.0 rebound margin. KU averages 17.3 assists and 6.3 steals per contest and leads the Big 12 and ranks eighth nationally with 7.7 blocked shots per game. The Jayhawks are third in the Big 12 in three-pointers made per game at 10.0 and fourth in three-point percentage at 40.0.
KUAthletics.com: Princeton @KU Game Notes

*ATWP - Gonzaga started the AY at #26, just 8 wins behind the Tigers. Wondering of the Bulldogs will manage to pass the Tigers this year? Hmmm...
Here's to today's game being a KU victory and NOT helping Princeton maintain its margin over the Zags.

JayhawkSlant: Kansas looking to grow against Princeton without Darryn Peterson

D(n)P sits again... some quotes...

“He will not play tomorrow,” Self said. “He is still sore, and for whatever reason, it’s still sore and trying to figure it out. But we don’t think it’s a long-term deal at all.”

Peterson is leading Kansas with 21.5 points per game on 60% shooting. Flory Bidunga sits behind him at 14.3 points per game. Bidunga said playing without Peterson gives the Jayhawks a chance to grow as a team.

“I think it’s great for us,” Bidunga said. “Obviously, he’s a great player. But I feel like, who knows in the future, maybe he will be in foul trouble, and then we need to learn to play without him. So I think it’s a great opportunity for us to play without him and just grow as well.”

In a game that was fugly at times KU - led by Flory Bidunga (25 pts; including 5-6 FTs!; 10 rebounds; 3 blocks) and Tre White (18 pts, including 10-13 FTS; 8 rebounds) - eventually ran away from Princeton in the second half to win by 19, 76-57.

KUAthletics.com: Bidunga, Kansas pull away for 76--57 win over Princeton

There were a lot of ups and downs in this game, and a lot of bottom line critiques that could go around, but one bottom line reaction for me is that Elmarko Jackson is not improving and therefore not helping this team.

JayhawkSlant: Bill Self - "I'm not in the best of spirits right now" (members only article, sorry. One excerpt below.)

Despite the 19 point win HCBS was unhappy with the game, especially the lack of solid guarding for much of the game.

And here's Self on Peterson, who is day-to-day heading into Tuesday's game against Duke...

“No, no. Yeah, we got some things to discuss, and we’re looking at it,” said Self when asked about Peterson. “He’s getting the best treatment, I mean, all that stuff. But he’s got tightness in his right hamstring. And, you know, he wants to be out there so bad. But, you know, I’m not going to put him out there until he feels well. And, you know, you can say or think, well, we’re trying to win the battle. Well, yeah, we are, but the battle’s not nearly as important as the long-term, you know, so to speak.

“And we’ve got to get him where he’s not hesitant to play,” he added. “We have seen him play, and he’s pretty good. And we still haven’t seen him whole yet. Think about that. You know, we need to get him where he can explode without the thought in his mind that something negative could happen. And it probably won’t. But, you know, I don’t want to put him in a situation where he’s got to think about that.”

Darryn Peterson gonna be DnP again?

#4 Duke will run away with the game.
