Setting the stage for the AY2025-26 season.
Click here to go to the AY2024-25 thread.

LOOKING AHEAD
1. KANSAS starts the season trailing the leader UK by 8 games.

2. Starting the AY2025-26 season the Big 12 has 6 teams in the Top 25 listing -- #2 KANSAS, #12 Cincinnati, #15 Utah, #17 BYU, #18 Arizona and #21 West Virginia. (It is still notable to this Jayhawk that KANSAS is the only old Big 8 school in the Top 25).

3. NCAA Division 1 play begins with seven programs having surpassed the 2000 wins mark, Temple and Syracuse (again) joining the “club” last season. This season both Notre Dame (1978 wins) and St. John’s (1973 wins) have the chance to reach 2000 wins. With good seasons this time around both Purdue (1953 wins) and Indiana (1950 wins) will have a shot at passing 2000 next year.

4. Big 12 members BYU, Utah and Arizona, along with Western Kentucky and Villanova, all passed the 1900 wins mark last season. This year Washington (Udub) and West Virginia have a good chance of topping 1900. Mathematically Connecticut could reach 1900, but it would take a highly unlikely 39 win season to do so.

LOOKING BACK
• UK gained 3 wins on KU and 1 on UNC in AY2024-25.

• AY2024-25 also saw -
- The Purdue Boilermakers pass the Indiana Hoosiers for 10th place on the list. (As a former Hoosier grad student I can tell you that stings a bit. Picture KState passing KU for something, anything. Same vibe. Ugh.)
- Big 12 member Cincinnati pass Illinois for 12th place
