Can't link the JW article as they are on a pay wall now and I refuse to pay them for crappy journalism. Any way, it's all over the news. Say's a full recovery is expected.
I love the guy, but I'd rather see him retire than let the job kill him.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits”. Albert Einstein
Ok I am not an MD, but my father was an MD, a Metal Dealer. I am a biomedical scientist, a retired KU professor, and a stent and bypass survivor. Re Coach Self and his stents. Stents are used to unclog those heart arteries that are accessible to stenting and not at places in the heart where they are not. In my own case, my right coronary artery was 90% occluded and I was really close to the big one. The stent saved my life, and got me home from Australia. Recovery was fast. I was walking 2-3 miles with no shortest of breath within a few days. BUT, about a month after returning, I was walking up Indiana street and felt, oops. Yes, things were not right. A visit to LMH ER room had me in an ambulance on my way to St. Lukes that evening. Tests showed that I had major partial blockages at two non-stentable sites. A double bypass was performed. Recovery from bypass surgery is much slower. I was able to give a major lecture in San Diego, six weeks later and I travelled to my 7th continent after about 5 months, I would not have been able to coach a BB team even if I had the talent to do so. Why these comments? If coach requires a bypass, now or later, his recovery time will require him to trust people on his staff to be ready to take over. So, coach Self, get your staff ready in case they are needed. And, good luck moving forward.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Self given “clean bill of health”, no restrictions on his activities.
