I'm very happy about this. He could be our future head coach, too.

"The Vaughn of a new era!"
Had to steal it and post it here.
Hope the author is 100% right!
To the good, of course...

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
This is one tiny bit of good news in what has (for me) been a depressing offseason with all the NIL/Transfer BS. Frankly, I've been avoiding recruiting news since it just depresses me that now I totally doubt any new recruit's dedication to the program vs. their paycheck.
That's what makes the JV return so great. All time great Jayhawk who presumably doesn't need the cash to come back as an assistant. The beaten down "optmimist" in me actually beleives that at some level, JV loves the program, KU, Lawrence, AFH and all the other things most fans love about KU basketball.
Does this mean that HCBS is looking to retire and they've tapped JV as a successor? Who knows and I hope Self has a few more years in him (but I wouldn't blame any D1 coach for hanging up his spurs in the current climate).
For now, I'm just happy that a great Jayhawk has decided to come back and return to the program where he excelled. And if any program newbie pushes back on anything he's telling them to do, all he needs to do is point up at the rafters and ask them who's name is hanging on the banner with #11 on it.
